 Israel David (David Engineers, Israel):
Why construction is booming in Israel 

Israel David is General Manager, CEO and Owner of David Engineers, Israel. The recipient of the 2019 Fazlur R. Khan Lifetime Achievement Award by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), in recognition of his achievements that has made a significant contribution to a discipline(s) for the design of tall buildings in the field of high-rise structural engineering. His company is the largest engineering structure design company in Israel and is involved in building projects in twenty different countries all over the world. Mr. David is Vice Chairman of the Israeli Union of Engineers in Construction and Infrastructure, chairman of the general assembly of the board of the Standards Institution of Israel, and of the central standardization committee. Mr. David is also a member of the governmental committees for architecture and engineers at the Israeli Ministry of Economy.

 

Arnon Bentur (Technion – Israel Institute of Technology):
Turning marginal aggregates into useful concrete components

Professor Emeritus Arnon Bentur is an international authority in the field of cement and concrete technology.
He published 8 books and served as editor and on the board of editors of international journals and book series. He was the President of the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM), 2006-2009.
Arnon Bentur has held senior management positions at Technion including Vice President for Research; Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering Director of the Samuel Neaman Institute for National Policy Studies; and Head of the National Building Research Institute.

 

Chi Sun Poon (Hong Kong Polytechnic University): Hydration and strength development of cement pastes prepared by using seawater as mixing water

Prof. Chi Sun Poon is the Chair Professor of Sustainable Construction Materials and Head at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was awarded the title of Changjiang Chair Professor by the Ministry of Education in 2017. Specializes in the teaching and research of eco-friendly construction materials, concrete technology and waste management. Published over 500 papers in international journals and conferences (including over 350 international journal papers, and 8 patents). Editor of Construction and Building Materials. Received several local and international awards for his research development in eco-construction materials including the State Technological Innovation Award in 2017.
